October to April is the best time to visit Sanya. Typhoons may occur during various periods of the year due to the tropical maritime monsoon climate. With a pleasant breeze and a nice average temperature of 25–28°C (77–82°F) in the spring, Sanya is a great place to visit. It’s sunny most of the time, however, it does shower occasionally.
Summer in Sanya is hot with an average temperature of 27–29°C (81–84°F). During the day, the intense sun and the unexpected downpour could alternate multiple times. Typhoons can also arrive occasionally. The finest time to visit Sanya is autumn filled with sunshine. Rain or extreme heat is rare, with an average temperature of 22–27°C (72–81°F). Winters in Sanya are pleasant, never frigid, with an average temperature of 22–23°C (72–73°F). A pleasant time to escape the cold winter in other parts of China.
Yalong Bay
Yalong Bay is filled with white sand and crystal blue water, which is well looked after and allows swimming. In this area, you can enjoy a drink in a bar or a water sport activity. Stroll along the beach or find a quiet place in the resort to bond with your children.
Tianya Haijiao
Tianya Haijiao is a famous landmark in Sanya. The highlights of this scenic spot are the seashore scenery and rocks that come in different shapes. “Tianya” and “Haijiao” are two big rocks that have large Chinese inscriptions on them. It is a symbol of love for many people, making it a popular attraction among couples.
Tropical Paradise Forest Park
Tropical Paradise Forest Park is located next to Yalong Bay, and is unique for its tropical rainforest. Here, you can trek through the rainforest, enjoy the variety of orchids, or climb up to the top of the hill. Overlook the Yalong Bay to enjoy the magnificent view of sunset and sunrise!
Wuzhizhou Island
The island is a well-known diving spot in China. Because of its crystal-clear water, its huge variety of marine life, and its colorful coral reefs, it's a great place for water activities. It also offers PADI classes.
Aquaventure Waterpark and The Lost Chambers Aquarium
Aquaventure Water Park is a large water park at the Atlantis Hotel in Sanya. There are 15 large slides in the park, as well as a “water fun” playground that is ideal for families with young kids. The aquarium has staggered underwater tunnels and distinctive corridors. It has more than 30 display pools, where you can see tens of thousands of marine life species. This is the best place to discover the underwater world with your children!
There is no denying that seafood is a must-try in Sanya because the city has 19 natural bays and an abundance of fisheries. Its seafood is renowned for having flavorful and delicate flesh. The majority of seafood is prepared by steaming or scorching it to preserve its natural flavor. There are hundreds of different kinds of seafood, but the most valuable and nutrient-dense include abalone, sea cucumber, and echinoid. Local Dai pai dongs offer meals is what draws people here.
