Chongqing Travel Guide

Spring and autumn are the best time to visit Chongqing to enjoy the pleasant weather. On the contrary, the summer in Chongqing is extremely hot and humid while winter is too bleak and foggy to enjoy the landscapes. Chongqing experiences a warm spring, while the temperature is erratic. It retains the winter quality of fog in the early spring. The typical range of temperatures is 11-18 °C (52 – 64 °F). Chongqing is one of the three hottest cities along the Yangtze River during the scorching summer. This is the season with the fewest mists and the highest rainfall, with an average temperature between 27 and 38°C (81 – 100°F). When fall arrives, the temperature drops to a cold one. Nonetheless, the season may see constant rain. During this season, the average temperature ranges from 21- 28°C (70 – 82°F). Wintertime in Chongqing is humid and mildly cold. A beautiful day with brilliant sunshine is uncommon. The typical temperature is from 9 -13 °C (48 – 55 °F).

Hongya Cave

Hongya Cave is a large-scale stilt house built on the side of a hill on the bank of the Jialing River. Inside the building is filled with shops and restaurants to enjoy. Exterior design of the building might look nothing special in the day time, but when the night time arrives everything comes alive!

Wulong Karst Geological Park

It will take you around 3 hours (170km) drive to reach Wulong Karst National Geology Park from Chongqing City. This area was listed into World Natura Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. During the visit you will explore some famous spots such as Furong Cave, The Three Natural Bridges, Houping Giant Doline, and many others.

Impression Wulong

The reputed show which themes is the “disappeared working song” includes the Story of Boat Tracker, Working Song on Sichuan River, and Crying Marriage illustrating the folk culture of Ba and Shu areas. Shenlong Gorge

Air

Though Chongqing has three airports, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport is the busiest. It is located 20 kilometers northeast away from of Chongqing city center. It takes roughly 45 minutes to 1 hour to get from Chongqing Airport to the city center. You can take a taxi or the Chongqing Light Rail Transit Lines 3 and 10 to the city center.

 

Train

There are 4 major train stations in Chongqing including Chongqing Railway Station, Chongqing North Railway Station, Chongqing West Railway Station, and Chongqing Shapingba Railway Station. Over 400 high-speed trains go to and from Chongqing each day. From Beijing (12 hours), Shanghai (11.5 hours), Xian (5.5 hours), Chengdu (2 hours), Lanzhou (7 hours), Guiyang (2 hours), Guilin (4-5 hours), Guangzhou (7.5 hours) etc.
